Returning Teachers Camp
July 11-16, 2010 -- Springfield, MO -- Cost: $575 ($395 if no lodging required)
Returning teachers will arrive on Sunday, July 11 and will wrap up on Friday, July 16. Those who need to stay over on Friday night may keep their room at Drury for an extra $30. This amount may be paid in advance, or at the camp. For those driving, you can leave by 4 p.m. on the 16th, or stay and enjoy our post-camp dinner on Friday night.
- Housing: You will be housed on the campus of Drury University. The dorms are air-conditioned, and each teacher has a private sleeping area. Campers share kitchen and bathroom facilities.
- Transportation: The Camp activities take place at Hillcrest High School. All transportation during Camp is provided. We will provide transportation to and from the Springfield-Branson Regional Airport for those who fly to Springfield. If you drive to camp, you have the option of driving your own vehicle to Camp activities.
- Equipment: We provide Apple Computers with Final Cut Pro software. We expect campers to bring a digital camera, microphone, at least one blank tape, a tripod (optional, but recommended), plus your batteries and charger. If you can not bring these items, we'll provide them for you, but it is always an advantage to work with the cameras you'll be teaching your students to use. Wireless internet is available during the day at Hillcrest, and you are welcome to bring a laptop.
- Graduate credit option: Through Drury University, campers may choose to enroll for two or three three graduate credits for their work at Camp STN. This will be an additional charge paid to the college. There will be a university representative at orientation to explain this option and to collect payment at that time. If you opt for three credits, a follow-up reflection paper is required. The regular camp activities meet the requirements for two credits.
- What's included: Camp tuition includes housing, lunch, camp materials and activities, transportation in the city to all camp functions, and a tape of the camp show, including video segments used during presentations. The DVD will be mailed to you after camp.
You may guarantee your place in camp by registering online and paying a $200.00 deposit, which is not refundable after May 1. All payments are due in full 10 days before your camp begins. The first 35 to register and provide the deposit will have their spots reserved. Please note that registering online alone does not guarantee your spot.
